Festival, auction at Christian School Saturday, October 2, at the 24th Annual Harvest Festival and Auction at the East Palmyra Christian School. The crisp fall air and the aroma of food: chili, homemade soups, hot dogs, hamburgers, ollie bollen, Fresh French Fries, homemade pies and desserts will be available beginning at 11:30 am. There will be a Chicken BBQ, serving between 3:30 and 7:30 for $7, pre-purchasing tickets strongly recommended. Take-outs are available. There will be an array of plants and produce, baked goods and crafts, as well as bargains of new and used merchandise. Over 100 local businesses and people (listed in the HF & Auction booklet) have donated service coupons and merchandise. You will see the result of the efforts of many people baking, creating, working, and bringing in harvest products. The doors will open at 11:30, with silent bidding available until 5:30 on a large selection of gift certificates. Auctioneer Henry W. Kuperus will begin the live auction bidding of merchandise and special gift certificates at 6 p.m. Listen for the squeals of delight and laughter of the children as they play games, and, weather permitting, take a four-wheeler ride, craw through the hay maze, or play in the Four In One Castle (combination airbounce, obstacle course, rock climb, and slide). Do you hear music? The Christian group Basic will be singing from 3 to 4. Also performing during the afternoon will be the Palmyra-Macedon High School Select Choir and East Palmyra Christian Schools own band. A car wash put on by students will be held at the Reformed Church next door, along with a can/bottle drive. East Palmyra Christian School, 2023 East Palmyra-Port Gibson Rd., Palmyra.
