Book review lunch Friday in Newark

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will meet Friday, April 8, at noon at the library, 121 high Street.

Nancy Rubery, retired Assistant Director of the Pioneer Library System, will review Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, a Pulitzer Prize winning author. This is the story of medical anthropologist and physician Paul Farmer, who has dedicated his life to treating some of the world's poorest populations.

Farmer is a founding director of Partners in Health, an organization that provides direct health care services and undertakes research and advocacy activities on behalf of those who are sick and living in poverty.

Cost of luncheon is $4 and reservations are needed by 1 p.m. on April 6. Call 331.4370.
