Missing Sodus What a rainy weekend! (But, it could have been much colder and it could have been snow, so I guess we shouldn't complain.) It was a sad weekend for many, learning about the death of the Pope. I really did not know a lot about him until watching the news that night. What a wonderful, loving man. He'll be tough to follow. Did you know he could speak 28 languages and was fluent in 8? (I have all I can do with the one that I speak all the time.) News from Debra Ross: Our tickets just came for the Shrine Circus, which is at the Blue Cross Arena Friday through Sunday, April 8-10. The kids can't wait! It's not as big-budget as Ringling Brothers, but it's not nearly as expensive either, and you feel great about where your money is going. For tickets, the Arena box office is 585.232.1900. For more information about the wonderful work and hospitals provided by the Shriners, see the informative local web site at http://www.damascusshriners.org/ A meal to prepare and forget about: Zesty Beef and Vegetable Soup

She is a woman of action, involvement, generosity and compassion. Information (rules & regulations) can be picked up at Bay Haven, 8538 Greig St. on April 16, from 10 to 5, along with a complimentary gift & beverage. The will be chosen June 15. Call 315.483.2666 for more information. Contact: Rosemary Murphy. (In reading this, I think we are all Renaissance Women, though we may not be elected by our families because they don't notice anything we do for them most of the time. There should be a day marked on the calendar where every member of the family should have to do what a women/mom had to do all day. They would fizzle out half way through.) Just joined the Chamber: Nancy & Robert Urrutia, owners of The Cliffs at Sodus Point a new Bed & Breakfast on Lake Road in Sodus Point, across from the water tower. Williamson students perform 'Annie get Your Gun' tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30. Head to the High School auditorium. In peeking at the summer calendar there are a lot of fun things going on in Wayne County this summer. We'll have to come out and join in the fun. If we were still living in Sodus, I would never be home. Have you ever been to the Wolcott Palace Theater? Seems like yesterday we were going to see a movie and dropping off cookies thru the window. Did you know: The owner, Amber Roberts, describes the interior as a blend of architectual styles. Amber has owned the theatre since 1993.The exterior is Art Deco and has no balcony. The admission price of three dollars is a bargain. The theatre is open on weekends only. It is a comfortable and homey theater, one of the past that adults might remember from their own small towns. Amber and her family are friendly and welcoming and who can beat the price? It allows you to have more money to spend on the really important things like the pop, candy and popcorn. The kids were little and it was so hard to balance everything so, I took a tote bag in with me with a Power Rangers tray to put everything on. Also, it was always nice to see friends you knew from the surrounding areas; have a little chit chat to catch up on the news of the day before the movie began. We never worried about not getting a seat and everyone could spread out and be comfortable. The original Palace burned down in 1929 and was rebuilt from 1932-1938 and it looks great, very historic. If you have never been, it might be a fun experience for your family. Plus, the kids could see what the older theaters looked like. Lorrie Zone her kids and her sister Ruthie Downey have been vacationing. I'm sure someplace warm. Where ever they went, I bet they had a good time. Easy Italian Chicken
4 boneless skinless breasts of chicken My son and I were out and about in Sodus on Tuesday morning. He was taking his road test. He passed and he is official now. (I will not, however, be arguing about the car. He can borrow his Dad's car on the weekends.) It was a great day for the drive. We took pictures at the Point and stopped at Burger King in Williamson for lunch. The water was so blue at Sodus Point. I had thought about collecting some driftwood, but my son wasn't so sure. It's ok. When I come out with my daughter, I'll get some. I love driving around Sodus. As the column says, 'Missing Sodus' and we truly are. Copyright
