The upper corners was comprised of a blacksmith shop, the cabinet shop of Richard Bourne, the office of Dr. Seth Tucker, and about ten houses. In 1831, a sawmill was built by James Wright and a Mr. Wing. It was called an 'ox mill' from the feet that its power was obtained from a treadwheel driven by oxen.
