In 1825, there were in operation here, a gristmill, saw mill, distillery, an ashery, blacksmith shop, post office, the tavern of Daniel Wilcox, a store kept by Archer Galloway, and a school.

The upper corners was comprised of a blacksmith shop, the cabinet shop of Richard Bourne, the office of Dr. Seth Tucker, and about ten houses. In 1831, a sawmill was built by James Wright and a Mr. Wing. It was called an 'ox mill' from the feet that its power was obtained from a treadwheel driven by oxen. It stood near the present garage owned by Peter Moose.

Pearl and Hank Ververs entertained 14 family members on Sunday to celebrate their son, Doug's birthday and their granddaughter, Kristen's 16th birthday and Pearl and Hank's 57th wedding anniversary on April 10.

Welcome home to Mil Leenhouts who is back in Marion after spending the winter months with her daughter, Joan and family.

April 18 at 7 p.m. - gather at St. Ann's church for a prayer service and rosary to honor Pope John Paul II as the conclave of cardinals convenes to elect his successor. Prayer service will include recitation of the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary that John Paul II added.
