Another important industry of Marion was the establishment of the first and only newspaper, the 'Marion Enterprise.' This paper was established on September 20, 1880 by Rollo D. Curtis. While many citizens encouraged this questionable venture, all were skeptical of its permanency and success. (Marjorie Lookup - 1934)

April 25 - Marion PTA - 7 p.m. in Elementary School Faculty Room; April 28 at 7 p.m. is Marion Elementary Authors Night.

Zoe Bovet is presently residing at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home.

Distant relatives - Mr. And Mrs. Ronald Goossen with Bradley and Jacob, from Watkins Glen, spent April 17 with Dorothy Hendricks of Owls Nest Road.

Bev Layton is home following a hospital stay.

Congratulations to Grant and Meredith Mark on the arrival of Andrew David on April 6. Proud grandparents are Gary and Cheryl McLouth and Great Grandmother, Thelma VanderMolen. Andrew was welcomed home by his brother, Lucas.

Pfc. Kevin Venable of Marion is with the 401st Civil Affairs Battalion, preparing to go to Iraq.

Celebrate spring with The Hen House Country Store located at 6165 Richardson Rd., Williamson, 483.1522. Opening weekends for the season - April 22 and 23 from 10 to 5, April 24, noon to 4. Regular hours are Wednesday to Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday noon to 4, starting May 11.

Scarlet Thread Fundraiser - Assorted boxed (scripture versed) greeting cards are available for purchase through Amy Davis. The boxes contain a 12 count and are from publishers such as Day Spring and Christian Inspiration. Priced from $5-$6. This will be an ongoing fundraiser and Amy plans to order monthly. There are a few catalogs available. One will be on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. For any questions or orders. please call Amy Davis at 926.0506. This supports the Student Center.
