Happenings
By Carolyn Adriaansen (926.4436)

We send happy 67th wedding anniversary wishes to George and Lila Shoales.

Tickets are still available for a chance on the crocheted seafoam green & off-white Mother's Day Afghan, offered by the Marion Historic Assn. I have tickets, as does Diane VanLare at the Leaning Barn. The Marion Food Pantry thanks Curves for their very generous and timely food donations. It was a thoughtful gesture and will be appreciated by many people in need.

Gordon Adriaansen is doing well following cataract surgery.

'Treat your friends like family and your family like friends.'

The big auction at St. Michael School in Newark is 7 p.m. tomorrow, April 30, in the gym. There are more than 400 items to be won.

It is so pleasant to hear again the carillon at the Marion United Church.

Reading Enhancement Parent Workshop is May 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. for grades 7-12.

Shelly Weeks continues to be a patient at the Strong Memorial Hospital.

'A mint still and sorghum crushery were located back of the Seybold mill. Mint was distilled, and sorghum was made from sugar cane which the farmers raised.'

Have you visited the Marion Museum lately? The six rooms are open on announced dates and by appointment by calling 926.4436. Displays include ice harvesting, outdoor privies, old-fashioned toys and pastimes and unique quilts first shown last year.

On May 31, the day of our Memorial Day Parade and Services, there'll be a collection of Service Men's uniforms donated to our archives. The negatives, given by the Doug Orbaker Studio will, also be available to sort through. Let me know if you have items to share with our guests.

May 7, 8 to noon, see spring splendor and wonderful plants, at Webster Arboretum, 1700 Schlegel Road. Many plants for sale. www.thewebsterarboretum.com; 585.234.4622.
