Civil War play at County Museum The Museum of Wayne County History will present 'Ever True: A Civil War Love Story' at 7 p.m. August 25 and 26; and August 27 at 2. The play will be held under the tent on the museum's lawn at 21 Butternut Street in Lyons. 'Ever True' is a readers' theater production based on the letters of Charles and Nancy McDowell of Alton, Wayne County. Charles served in the New York Ninth Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. Chris Bush of Geneva will play Charles, and Erin Cushman of Lyons will play Nancy. The production is directed by Jennifer Mitchell of Geneva. Author Lisa Saunders will introduce the play at Thursday's performance and will also sign copies of her book 'Ever True: A Union Private and His Wife.' She will chronicle the exhaustive research she conducted, beginning when she found the letters in her mother's attic and ending when her book and play were published. Attendees at Saturday's performance will also receive a treat: the museum is holding an old-fashioned picnic at noon, with the performance of 'Ever True' immediately following at 2 p.m. Tickets for the Thursday and Friday performances are $5 for museum members and $6 for non-members. Tickets for Saturday's performance, which includes the picnic lunch, are $6 for members and $7 for nonmembers. All tickets include museum admission so visitors can view the exhibition 'In Their Words: Wayne County Soldiers in the Civil War.' To order tickets, or for additional information, call the Museum at 315.946.4943.
