On December 11, high school seniors caroled around Marion and sought donations for the Marion Food Pantry. Many residents enjoyed the caroling, which was coordinated by Cora Walker and Laurie East, and the group collected $60 for the Food Pantry.

Penny Drive collection, sponsored by the National Honor Society ended Tuesday. The goal for each grade level is $600. If the winning class reaches the $600 goal, they'll win a sledding party with hot cocoa. If the winning class reaches the $800 level, they will also get a pizza party. The collection will culminate in the traditional Penny Fund Assembly on December 23, where the winning class will be announced during a skit put on by NHS members.

A penny was all it took to send a lovely postcard in the 'Good Old Days.'

December means 'Tenth' from the Latin decem. Like the three preceding months, it has been misnamed ever since the Romans added two months to their year. The celebration of the most important feast day, from Christmas Day itself until Twelfth Night on January 5, was carried on by rich and poor alike, in great manor halls and humble cottages. For it was the crowning time of all the year, and its joys have been sung over and over in many lands.

1884 news: Snow should be tramped around young fruit trees to prevent the mice from injuring them. And, Many will go to New Orleans this winter. The fare has dropped to $25 for the round trip.

Nancy DeFisher is up from Florida to spend time with her family and friends during the holidays.

Thanks! to Hunneybears for decorating the cement pots down in front of the Marion Town Hall, with winter greens and blossoms.

If you are sorting out greeting cards from earlier years, remove the fronts and drop them off and I will get them to the Macedon Center Methodist Church.

Friends and family members gathered to help Autumn Kubissa celebrate her 88th birthday.

Mass Schedule - Christmas Eve: 4:00 p.m. at St. Anne's; 6:00 p.m. at St. Gregory's; Midnight Mass at 12:00 at St. Anne's. Christmas Day: 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory's.

Thanks! to those who donated toys and stuffed animals for the abused women and the inner city groups. They were much appreciated!
