Recycling your toner, inkjet cartridges

Lyons Heritage Society is still collecting used toner and inkjet cartridges for recycling. Plastic from used inkjet and toner cartridges placed take 100 years to decompose in landfills. In the United States alone, over 250 million cartridges are consumed and thrown away each year. Production of an ink jet cartridge requires 2 1/2 ounces of oil and a toner cartridge 2 1/2 quarts of oil. The re-manufacturing industry saves 73 million pounds from our landfills each year.

Lyons Heritage Society has a collection box in the Lyons Public Library on Canal Street, Lyons, for your used cartridges. If you need to have them picked up, please call 315.946.4492.

By donating your used cartridge to the Lyons Heritage Society, you are helping a not-for-profit organization to raise money, but also helping to conserve our environment.
