Women 'Go Red' at Newark Hospital
At the current rate, almost one out of every two women will die from cardiovascular disease. That's more than the next six causes of death in women combined, including all forms of cancer. The good news is that heart disease is largely preventable. To raise awareness and to help give women the power to prevent heart disease by reducing their risk factors, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is inviting you to participate in their Go Red activities beginning at noon in the hospitals main lobby on Friday, February 4. Just wear something red and visit the hospital for a mini heart fair, including blood pressure screening, information on heart disease, FREE American Heart Association Go Red pins and more. The event will culminate with a group photo in the lobby at 1 p.m. of staff and visitors wearing red that day! Also, you can purchase a special heart healthy 'red' lunch (pasta with red sauce and a special red dessert) in the hospital cafeteria from 11:30 to 1:30. Newark Hospital's affiliate, Rochester General Hospital, is a sponsor of 'Rochester Goes Red,' an initiative from the American Heart Association, which addresses heart health for women. At Newark, the event is being sponsored by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. Copyright
