Question: When the Star Spangled Banner is always played before basketball games at my daughter's high school, I see a lot of confusion about whether people should stand and place their hands over their hearts. Can you clarify? Answer: This is the accepted protocol, as explained by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. When the flag is displayed during the playing of the national anthem, all present, except those in military uniform, should stand at attention facing the flag, with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress (hats) with the right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, with the hand over the heart. Those in military uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain the position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face the source of the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there. The Catholic Community of Western Wayne County invites the public to save the dates for a Lenten Mission. 'Behold the Man' will be presented on Sunday, February 27 through Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. held at St. Mary of the Lake in Ontario. Copyright
