Missing Sodus Oscar is still playing with the pink football in the living room. Yes, it is cute, but it gets old quickly. Now, to get him to bring the football to one of us. Here are some food ideas to keep the kids happy on Winter Break next week: Cheerio Bars
Bring sugar and honey to a boil in 2 quart saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in peanut butter until blended. Pour in Cheerios and peanuts and mix until well coated. Spread in buttered 9 x 13 pan and let cool. English Muffin Pizzas also by Barbara Whiting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Put presliced English muffins face up on a cookie sheet. Spoon some pizza sauce on each half of the muffins. Top with pepperoni, mushrooms, and then the cheese. Bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese melts and bubbles slightly. News from the Chamber: The Sodus Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a raffle to benefit the Scholarship fund. Last year's raffle was a success and this year, it is hoped to raise even more than last year's $1500, which enabled three scholarships to be awarded to Sodus graduates. The winners for the raffle prizes will be drawn at the annual Citizen of the Year Award Banquet to be held on April 8. Raffle tickets will be available from all Chamber members and are three for $10. Individuals or business may donate items for the raffle with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund. Items donated last year ranged from briefcases to dinner certificates to wine and everything in between. Items to be donated should be recived no later than March 1. To arrange for pick up of the item(s), contact John Catlin at 483.9412 or Jim Hopkins at 483.9129, or leave at WCTA Credit Union in Sodus (Bonnie Decker) or Tracey Fox Law Office 29 W Main. The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2004 Citizen of the Year. Anyone within the Sodus Township may submit a nomination and only one nomination is needed per person. Oaks (128th Assembly District) has scheduled a series of town meetings in Wayne County that will be open to the public. These meetings are open forums for residents of the district to voice their concerns about state issues, Oaks said. The topics he will discuss include the state budget proposal, legislative and budget reform, and results of his recent constituent survey. The meeting schedule is as follows:
Congratulations to the Underwood family. Ed and Gloria lived down the street from me when we lived on Sergeant St. in Sodus. On August 28, they are expecting the arrival of their 5th child. The baby is due the week Zech leaves for college. They are all excited. News from Tom and Beth in Florida: Just weeded & mulched the front yard after I cut back a couple rose bushes & Hibiscus... It's cool here with a wind factor... we got to I think 64 yesterday. We have 'spring - winter jackets' and I understand the 'seatbelt' episodes. One day... it's a loose child seat... so you tighten it, then oh no... it's too tight. Regarding the Superbowl, believe me... he sounded like he was 'star struck' but acted professionally. That was the great thing about the location where he worked, he got to see the large screen and a lot of the game. He keeps saying... 'I had to wear their blazer, shirt & tie, I got paid $100 & $15 food voucher, just to watch the Superbowl and see some celebrities'. ( Tom worked at the Super Bowl this year.) If you have an aquarium, no matter how big or small and have a question the pet stores can't answer, try waterhound@ petfish.net They were a great help to me. Dont forget: The Great Sodus Bay Association presents the 3rd Annual CHILI BLUES FAMILY FEST this Sunday, February 20 at O'Riley's in Sodus Point. I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day. It's amazing how many Holiday books you find at the libraries that you didn't know existed. Have a great week.
