Happenings The American Legion and AARP are sponsoring a Driver Improvement Course. This will remove points from your license and may reduce insurance rates. The class dates are March 15-16, May 18-19. Class time is 6-10 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. Call All Lucas at 524.9455. Congratulations to Spelling Bee finalists who are going to Regional competition: Neil Grayson, Hilary Fuller and Tina Grassi. February 19, 1909: The second anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. James Burns was observed Feb. 12 in a fitting manner. A special train on the N&MRR brought 36 friends from Newark. 'Never buy a coffee table you can't put your feet on.' March 3 is the Elementary Family Math Night, 6:30 to 7:30. Girls indoor track team placed third at Class D Sectionals. Ellen Muster won the 1000m, 1500m and 3000m. Christina Driessen won the triple jump, finished fourth in long jump and fifth in the 45m. Jackie Fernaays placed third in the pole vault and Chelsea Engelsen placed sixth in the 1000m and 1500m. Muster was named the class D Most Outstanding Track Athlete, while Driessen was named Most Outstanding Field Athlete. Boys indoor track team finished fourth at class D Sectionals. Leading the way was Nolan Kearns, who won the long jump, triple jump and high jump. Matt Hussey was fourth in both the 1000m and 1600m, while Greg Craft and Sean Hanshaw placed sixth in the 600m and 45m. Nolan Kearns was named Class D Most Outstanding Field Athlete. Girls hoops - the varsity season ended with a 40-37 loss to South Seneca. Marion was led by Roberta Rosen with 10 points. Marion finished in third place in the Wayne County League. They were 11-10 overall, 11-5 in the League. The 8th grade girls and 7th grade girls teams both defeated Sodus earlier in February. Copyright
