Hitchcock film retrospective at Lyons Library

Starting January 8 and continuing until the first week of March, the Lyons Public Library will present an Alfred Hitchcock film retrospective series for adults. The films will be shown on Saturdays at 2 p.m. A short discussion of each film will follow.

Jan. 8 presents the classic Strangers on a Train starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, Robert Walker and Leo G. Carroll. In the film a tennis player, played by Farley Granger meets a playboy played by Robert Walker on a train to Washington. Walker's character wants to kill his father and knows that Granger's character wants to marry a senator's daughter but is unable to obtain a divorce from his wife. The playboy suggests that the two men swap murders, so to leave no trace behind and so the story unfolds.
