County organizes for coming year
By Donna Comella

Wayne County Supervisors organized their Board Monday, with few changes 2005. The 15 town supervisors re-elected Marvin Decker (Wolcott) as Chairman of the Board, but stripped the title of Clerk of the board from County Administrator Kim Park. Sandy Sloane was named to that post. After a lengthy Executive Session to discuss a personnel issue, the board also removed the title of Budget Officer from Park, naming Finance Committee Chair and Savannah Supervisor Don Colvin to the position. Fiscal Officer Keith Kubasik will serve as Deputy Budget Officer.

Although Park lost some duties, she, along with other certain County Officers received 3 percent raises for each 2004 and 2005 year. Park remains the highest paid county officer at a 2005 salary of $82,400. Highway Superintendent James Brady received a 3 percent raise for 2004, but not for 2005.

Republicans named Richard Clark as Election Commissioner. The former Town of Ontario Supervisor replaces Tom Biddle. Clark said later that he is looking forward to serving as Commissioner. He said that new federal mandates will make the job a challenging one. Democrats again appointed former Arcadia Supervisor Tom Healy to a Commissioner seat.

Standing Committees remain the same as last year, as do the designations of Majority Leader Donna Chittenden (R) of Sodus and Minority Leader Carm Pascarella (D) of Rose.
