Living history weekend in Ontario

Travel back in time to when Civil War guns blared and cannons roared.

Revisit the events of the Civil War during Heritage Square Museum's Living History Weekend, July 9 and 10 from 10 to 4.

See the Union and Confederate soldiers and witness what camp life was all about. The event begins on Saturday at 10 am with the flag-raising ceremony, the bridge dedication, drills and demonstrations.

On Saturday, from 7 -10 p.m. there will be a Barn Ball with dancing to 'City Fiddle.' A night firing will take place at 9:30.

At 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, there will be battle scenarios in the field complete with gunfire and cannons. Sunday, at 10 a.m. there will be a period church service under the tent. All are welcome to attend.

Tours of Heritage Square Museum's 19th century fully furnished buildings will be available each day from 11 to 4.

Heritage Square is located at 7147 Ontario Center Road (Route 350), two miles north of Route 104 in Ontario. Admission is free, parking - $3 per car.
