There are so many fun things to do this weekend. Actually, the next couple of weekends are chocked full.

Tonight brings you the Ice Cream Social and Street Dance after the Pet Parade in Sodus. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music, dancing and ice cream sundaes. I don't know if I can get Rachel and Oscar to cooperate, but we will be there to be a part of the fun. The Pet Parade atarts at 7 at Main Street Sodus Village Park. Line up at the Methodist Church at 6.

If you don't want to be in the parade, certainly bring along your lawn chairs and enjoy the parade from the sidelines. The parade is followed by the Ice Cream Social, Hot dogs sold by Sodus Central Golf Club, and a street dance.

Tomorrow, the Olde Tyme Country Faire itself is held, with the garage sales, arts and crafts vendors, demonstrations, BBQ, a soccer game, and so much more . There will be maps and coupons available at the Chamber booth. What a weekend!

pretty flowers! Tomorrow at 1 p.m. on the Sodus Varsity Field, two Division 3 soccer teams will compete. WFL United, a team made up of men from Williamson, Sodus, Marion and North Rose, will compete against Hellenic FC 2, a team from the Webster area. The first time these two teams met, WFL United defeated Hellenic FC 2, 1 - 0. Bring along your chairs and blankets and enjoy the game. There will be plenty of food to eat over at the Old Tyme Country Faire across the street.

On Sunday, the 8th Annual Sodus Fire Company Auto Show & Flea Market will be held at the Firemen's Field in Sodus.

Also on Sunday, listen to the summer concert on the lawn of the Old Lighthouse at Sodus Point at 2. While you're there, visit the Maritime Museum & the Old Lighthouse Museum Gift Shop. Concerts & Parking are Free - bring your own seating.

A cute cake idea from Betty Crocker:

Watermelon Cake

1 box Betty Crocker SuperMoist white cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for in cake mix directions
1 package (0.13 oz) cherry or other red-colored unsweetened soft drink mix
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1 container (12 oz) Betty Crocker Whipped fluffy white frosting
Green and red food colors
2/3 cup green jelly beans

Heat oven to 350F. Grease bottoms only of two 8- or 9-inch round pans with shortening or cooking spray. In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil, egg whites and drink mix with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds; beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips. Pour into pans. Bake 27 to 32 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely, about 1 hour. In small bowl, stir 1 cup frosting with 10 to 12 drops green food color. Stir 10 to 12 drops red food color into remaining frosting. Frost sides of cakes with green frosting; press green jelly beans into frosting. Frost tops of cakes with red frosting; press remaining 2 tablespoons chocolate chips into frosting for seeds. If desired, cut cakes crosswise in half and arrange 'slices' randomly on tray. To serve, cut into wedges. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Hopefully the weather won't be so hot and everyone can enjoy being outside more. The beach is a fun place to spend a few hours. The concerts are fun to listen to while watching the boats sailing past and just going to get ice cream with the family is a good time during the summer. Whatever you do have a good time. We don't get too many months like these. If you have any fun summertime stories to share, please send them along to
