In 1906, S.H. Mora, then an Eastman Kodak executive, assembled a team and backers, and started producing automobiles on the south side of Seigrist St. in Newark. Shortly after, his new plant on Hoffman Street was built, produced cars until 1911. The building still exists today, as the Hallagan Manufacturing Co.

Those wanting to contribute , loan artifacts or photos, or be part of the celebration, are encouraged to contact the Newark-Arcadia Museum at 331.6409.

Photo: One model produced by Newark's Mora Automobile Co. was the Browniekar, a children's automobile. The Omar Car Co. was a division of Mora, producing this little car in the Seigrist St. plant. An owner of a Browniekar was Buster Keaton, star of the silent screen, who is pictured here with his brother Jingles. (Photo from J. Zornow collection.)
