Newark Kiddie Day Parade coming

Newark children are invited to participate in the 35th annual Newark Kiddie Day Parade, June 4, at 1 p.m.

Children must wear helmets, if they are under age 14 and riding on bikes and trikes. Knee and elbow pads, plus helmets REQUIRED for skaters and roller bladers.

Parade assembles on Grant Street, proceeds to South Main Street, turns north and ends at Central Park.

Be in line between 12:15 and 12:45, so you can be judged. Anyone arriving after 12:45 will not be eligible for judging. There will be many prizes given, plus free ice cream and soda pop.

Rain date is same day at Alex Eligh Community Center.

Each child must have a name tag FURNISHED BY PARENTS. Children receiving prizes must still be wearing tags.

This event is sponsored by Arcadia Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2883, Newark Volunteer Firemen, August Mauer Post #286 American Legion, VFW and Legion Auxiliaries, Elks Lodge #1249, and the Village of Newark.

Continue the Newark / Jackson & Perkins tradition.

Ralph Miller and the VFW are working on a collage of photos of J&P parades from 50 years ago.
