Cruise around Bay will help Hospice

Sodus Bay Yacht Club members are offering one-hour cruises around Sodus Bay on 18-foot sailboats on Saturday, June 4 as a benefit for Hospice of Wayne & Seneca Counties.

Ideal 18 boats will depart the dock at Sodus Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with room for two or three 'guest sailors' on each boat. Tickets are reserved for specific times, and all proceeds from the donation of $25 per ticket go to Hospice.

A U.S. Sailing certified instructor will provide a short orientation talk prior to each hourly cruise, to enhance the experience for people who may have never sailed before.

'Sailboat Rides for Hospice' is presented in conjunction with SBYC's annual Antique and Classic Boat Show. The day-long event features displays of great mahogany runabouts, nifty hydroplanes, and cool old outboards. In addition, the Great Sodus Bay Association is sponsoring a display of classic cars and antique motorcycles in the village during the day.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended to schedule rides for preferred times. People with boat ride reservations must check in at the Hospice booth at SBYC 30 minutes prior to their scheduled departure. Children ages 8 to 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Hospice of Wayne & Seneca Counties helps families care for loved ones who are terminally ill, providing services to reduce suffering, preserve dignity, and extend compassion at the end of life. Hospice is a service of Lifetime Care, a non-profit charitable organization with offices in Newark, Rochester and Geneseo. Donations to Hospice are tax-deductible as provided by law.
