This week has been so nice. We're coming out to Sodus this weekend. There will be a lot of fun things to do.

News from the Sodus Chamber:

FAIRE Yard Sales in Sodus - Neighbors participating in the Chamber of Commerce FAIRE yard sales on July 23 should get extra business this year. By signing up as a FAIRE yard sale, they will receive special stickers to give to their customers, and for every sticker a customer gets, the customer will receive one ticket towards a drawing for a $50 gift card from Wegmans. The more yard sales a customer attends, the more tickets they receive and the better the chance of winning the Wegmans gift card. Stickers must be returned to the Chamber booth at the Olde Tyme Country Faire before 3 p.m. on July 23 and exchanged for tickets. Drawing for the Wegmans gift card will be done at 3 and the winner need not be present. Free maps and list of participants will also be available at the Chamber's booth at the OLDE TYME COUNTRY FAIRE held at WCTA parking lot. Anyone in the Sodus Township may participate by sending their name, address and a check for $10 to the Sodus Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 187, Sodus, NY. Your yard sale kit will contain a distinctive sign, bright tape to put on mailbox, a list of other participants with maps, as well as the special stickers. Deadline for being included in the advertising is July 8. For more information call the Chamber at 315.398.8473.

Many events are planned for the day, including the Jason Buyck Memorial 5k run, open house at the Wallington Cobblestone School, Adult Men's soccer game at the school.

Regular monthly meeting of the Sodus Chamber of Commerce will be at the Williamson-Sodus Airport on Monday, June 6 starting at 6 p.m. We will tour the airport, then 'eat and meet' in the Board room. Meal is being catered by Everyday Gourmet, $10 per person, and reservations are a must. Call Mary Jane Mumby at 483.4067 to reserve a place. All meetings are open to the public.

June 4 & 5: Cracker Box Palace Animal Fair Family fun and educational seminars and demonstrations at the farm. Loads of booths representing animal shelters and service organizations and other animal care providers will be sharing information on ALL kinds of animals. Meet rescued raptors or pet a 1,000 pound pig. There will be booths representing local businesses, craft & food vendors and LOTS of activities for the kids. Go for a hay ride, take a hike on a 'fossil walk' and enjoy a picnic on beautiful grounds overlooking Sodus Bay. Come bid at the AUCTION provided by the Village Auction Co. on Saturday at 5! The Cracker Box Palace is a Farm Animal Haven and is a not-for-profit animal shelter that takes in unwanted, abandoned, neglected or abused farm-type animals, such as horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits & poultry.

Grilled Hawaiian Chicken

4 4-oz boneless chicken breasts, skin on
1/2 cup cooking sherry
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
8 large fresh pineapple slices

Place chicken in a glass bowl; set aside. In a separate bowl, combine cooking sherry, pineapple juice, brown sugar and soy sauce, mix well. Pour over chicken and let marinate in the refrigerator overnight or up to 48 hours. Grill over medium heat until cooked through, remove skin before serving. Grill fresh pineapple slices for garnish.

While we were out in Wallington at the Sampling Sodus one of the booths was from Curves the ladies were so excited and enthusiastic that I decided to check it out. So, as it works out we have a tour tonight to find out what it's all about. We'll keep you posted as to what they have to offer. Sodus has a Curves. I think it's on Maple Ave. I had a card but left it on my son's desk and we all know what that can mean.

Have a great week and maybe we'll see you during all our running around. (I should make some chocolate chip cookies and drop them off at Al Dobbin's house. He'll think the leprechauns have come again.)
