Savannah Community Days this Saturday It's time for Savannah's Town-Wide Yard Sales and Community Days. The Savannah Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in this Family-Oriented Day of Activities at the Potato Fest Field on June 11. Starting at 9:30 is the first Municipal Auction in Eastern Wayne County with Jim Hoyt the Auctioneer. He has trucks and lots of small equipment to sell. At 10 a.m. the parade will start at the Town Barns and travel down Main Street and to the Potato Fest Field. Scouts and Little League Teams, the All-County ATV as well as the Savannah Elementary School Band will march. The Kiddie Parade will join the big parade at the corner of Route 89 and 31 and will walk to Wellington Avenue, where there will be a wagon for them to ride on for the rest of the distance. Categories for the Kiddie Parade are Role Models, Prince and Princess and Movie Stars. There will be prizes for everyone. Savannah's Own Magician, Michael Amico will be presenting a magic show immediately after the parade while the prizes are being selected. Two other magic shows will be presented at 12:30 and 2:30 PM. Come and see what he has up his sleeve. At 11, you can try your luck at winning a cake at the Cake Booth in front of the Secor Building, sponsored by the Savannah Chamber. Over in the tractor track, Greg Hurley and the Palmyra Pullers will be featuring a Mini-Tractor Pull. Weigh-in is at 10:30 with the pull beginning at Noon. ATVs will be beginning their mud bog after the parade. In very short time those nice and clean ATVs will not look the same as their owners run through the Mud trying to make the best time. Immediately after the mud bog, there will be a DASH FOR CASH. You can register to RUN through the Mud to reach the prize at the end. Open for all ages. At noon there will be a dedication of the Richard H. Beauter Field at the Savannah Elementary Field with the unveiling of the sign that many have contributed to in memory of Coach Beauter. Julie VanLeeuwen has been overseeing this effort. And for the children and youth, there will be a bike rodeo and bike race starting at Noon at the Potato Fest Field. Bikes will be inspected for all the needed safety precautions, followed by bike races. Age groups will race at different times and there will be prizes for everyone. Through out the day, there will be a moon walk and inflated Twister game for children and youth of all ages. On Saturday, the Savannah American Legion Post will be serving a Pulled Pork Sandwich Meal. You may also choose a Chicken Barbecue or Savannah Chamber Booth will offer Salads to complement the port and chicken as well as serving the regular hot dogs and hamburgers and beverages. On the field will be several craft vendors and flea vendors along with those Savannah residents who live outside of the main travel routes and therefore will be setting up their yard sale on the field.
