Strawberry Festival this weekend in Wolcott

Strawberries, strawberries, and more strawberries ... at the Strawberry Festival June 17 and 18 in Northup Park in Wolcott. The event is sponsored by the Huron and Wolcott Presbyterian churches.

June 17, there will be a ham dinner at the Wolcott Presbyterian Church on West Main Street. Tickets are available for pre-sale and also at the door. Always delicious, this dinner jumpstarts the festival activities.

On Saturday the park will be buzzing with activity. Events run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Craft booths will offer a nice selection of wares. There will also be a fantastic Antique Tractor exhibit. Throughout the day there will be a variety of entertainment to keep the festival mood alive. A note to moms... there will be a Kid's Game Tent where toddlers through 5th grade can play an assortment of games and win prizes.

There will be homemade baked goods, delicious strawberry shortcakes, sundaes and milkshakes. Also available will be hots, hamburgers, nachos, salt potatoes, plus soda and spring water. Fried dough and coffee will be waiting for you to enjoy. Strawberries will be available to purchase by the quart.

On June 18 there will be a Strawberry Festival raffle drawing. If you did not get tickets before you will be able to pick them up that day. First prize will be a digital camera valued at $180. Second prize is a $50 Savings Bond from the Lyons National Bank. Third prize is a $30 gift certificate from Pier One Restaurant, and Fourth prize is a one-year subscription to the Wayne County Star or Post Herald - Wayuga Community Newspapers, Inc., Burnett Concrete Products, Inc., Dobbins Insurance Agency, R.E. & H.J. McQueen, Inc., Sova's Plumbing-Electrical-Heating, Inc., and The Shopper donated toward the first prize.

A parade with antique tractors, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday. Following the parade there will be a Chicken Barbecue. Both chicken halves and dinners will be served or can be taken out.
