Lyons youths going on mission A group of young people from the United Methodist Church in Lyons will participate in a week-long service mission experience to help the residents of New Monmouth, NJ. During the week of July 3 to July 9, the young people will participate in the New Monmouth Camp, sponsored by Group Workcamps of Loveland, Colorado. Camp participants provide their own expenses and transportation to the camp. The young people will repair and weatherize family homes for elderly, low- income, and disabled people who are unable to afford or perform the work for themselves. Several hundred other young people and their adult leaders from locations throughout the United States and Canada, representing many denominations, will also participate in the New Monmouth Camp. Through their work, these young people will gain a life-changing understanding about the true meaning of servanthood and work to grow in their Christian faith Young people making the trip are: Melody Gifford, Tim Meyers, Katee Tiballi, Brian Sieling and Ashley Butler.
