The kids will be out soon (if they aren't already on vacation). So far, they are happy, but we all know they will be saying those words, 'I'm bored' and we will need to think fast to stop it. An idea might be for the younger kids to go to the Dollar Store or Family Dollar and pick up some puzzles, coloring books and work books. Of course, you can find these things anywhere, but how can you go wrong for a dollar? A movie every afternoon is always helpful when you need to get some things around the house done and kids need to be entertained. Whether its going for walks to the library or just spending the day at home, I have always found that planning your day ahead is easier for you and you seldom hear 'I'm bored.' (You will hear it - just not as often.) Mark your calendars. A lot of fun is on the way! July 3 - Sodus Point 4th of July weekend Celebration starts! Sunday at 2 is the Kiddie Parade. Cool Whip 'Cheater' Pies
2 packages pudding mix or Jello mix Mix 2 packages of pudding and 2 cups of milk thoroughly. Gently fold in 1 container of Cool-Whip. Spoon into a graham cracker crust. Chill. OR Mix 1 package Jello with 2/3 cup boiling water. Mix until completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup cold water and enough ice cubes to make 1 1/4 cup. Stir until slightly thickened. Remove any remaining ice. Gently fold in 1 container of Cool-Whip. You can also mix in some sliced fresh fruit (strawberries are luscious). Refrigerate about 10 minutes, until filling will mound. Spoon into a graham cracker crust. Chill at least 2 hours.
'Today, Saturday, June 18th, Betty and I had a very interesting day. Mike Chelenza is having his 85th birthday, so his wife Connie had called us and asked us to come and help celebrate it with them. We expected a few snacks and probably ice cream and cake. When we arrived there were about 15 or 16 people there. It started out with champagne, some snacks and a lot of friendly conversation. Then we were served dinner which was being catered by Club 86 from Geneva. The dinner consisted of chicken, salmon, potato and vegetables served with wine. And then of course we had cake and ice cream for dessert. It was greatly enjoyed by everyone. The occasion was held outside in their garage so there would be room for all, so they had gotten an outdoor fireplace that was burning and supplying some heat to help with the chilly weather. Tomorrow on Father's Day our son Reg and his wife Laurie have asked us to go to the Finger Lakes race track for a buffet there. All in all it is turning out to be an exciting weekend for us. The big pay off will be if I win some money on the horses.' Graduation Day is upon us and it will be an emotional one. Congratulations to everyone who made it. Good for you. Now come the parties. We won't see our seniors for much of the summer. I'm afraid they are going to be soooo busy with college orientations, parties and having the last big fun with their friends. As my Mom says, don't be sad, be happy for them. They are taking a big next step in their lives and you, as their moms, have given them the confidence and the knowledge to do it. They will never grow away from us. Have a great week and enjoy each other's company (and with the graduating seniors, spend what time you can with them when they stop long enough. Copyright
