RSVP Education program

The RSVP Osteoporosis Exercise & Education Program will hold a free demonstration at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, at the Red Creek Recreation Center. To come to the demonstration, call Oswego County RSVP at 312.2317, Wayne County RSVP at 946.7530 or Sharon Faudree at 947.5582. Before being accepted into an exercise class, each participant must attend a free demonstration session. Osteoporosis Exercise & Education sessions are held in 19 sites throughout Oswego County, and are expanding into Cayuga and Wayne Counties. The RSVP sponsored classes are self-paced and can help those just diagnosed and for those with advanced osteoporosis. The exercises are designed to rebuild bone density and improve balance. Nutrition information will also be provided to assist in controlling the consequences of osteoporosis.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers a number of community service opportunities utilizing the lifetime experiences of people 55 and older. RSVP places and supports Older American volunteers in critical need areas and offers a monthly publication, Mature Living, free of charge to Oswego County residents. For information on this and other programs, call RSVP at 312.2317 or 946.7530. RSVP is a federal initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service and is locally sponsored by the United Way, SUNY and WAYNECAP.
