Trustees wanted at the Lyons Library

The Lyons Public Library Board of Trustees is looking for a few good people to join them. The Library has been investigating the best way to relieve the overcrowded conditions of the current library. In order to widen input, ideas, and expertise as the project progresses, the Board has decided to increase its membership from five to seven.

Library trustees are elected for 5-year terms at the annual library budget vote usually held in May. They are responsible for setting library policy, planning for the future direction of the library, and assuring that the library has the necessary funds to carry out its service goals. The Library Board meets once a month, usually on the third Tuesday in the evening. Board members are expected to attend the monthly meetings as well as special meetings. A job description can be picked up at the library.

Three Board positions will need to be filled at the election in 2005. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and live in the Lyons Central School District. Petitions for the three positions can be picked up at the Lyons Public Library, located at 67 Canal Street, in Lyons and must be filed with the director no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2005.

Consider supporting this important community resource by becoming a Board member. For more information contact Library Director Theresa Streb, at 315.946.9262.
