Lyons girls squeak by Clyde in OT

Last night's Class C qualifier ended in an overtime win by the Lyons Girls basketball team, 63-62, over the Clyde-Savannah Eagles.

Senior Latasha Coney scored 26 points (4 in OT) for the Lions and was named Most Valuable Player. She and teammates Brittany McCray and Kiersten Beman have been named All-Stars. Elgina Riggins also added four points in OT, and had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Eagles had defeated the Lions when they met in two season games, led by a high scoring Merrick Volpe. In last night's game in Newark, Rachel Bruno led Clyde with 23 points; Haleigh Van Fleet scored 14; Volpe added 13.

Lyons and Clyde ended their regular seasons at 22-3 and 21-4, respectively.

Lyons faces off against Hamburg for the Class C Championship on Saturday in Buffalo.
