Ralph Everdyke had a nice 80th birthday. (Thank you, Donna for your efforts in trying to make the goal of 80 cards for Ralph's big day.) I would have written the idea up in the column after Reggie mentioned it to me, but Ralph reads the column. Anytime you get something in the mail that isn't a bill, it's a good day. Must have been fun going out to the mail box. (Great idea, Reggie. Now if Ralph was only 50.) A note from Ralph: Well, my 80th birthday has come and gone. I must say that I had a very enjoyable day. The parade started when Pauline Zacharilla, who is originally from Newark, brought me a bottle of wine. Next my neighbors from next door, Pete and Pearl Cappina, brought me some golf balls. They are from Caledonia, NY. They have been wintering down here for the past 2 or 3 years and are a fun couple. Then Ron and Micki Fagner from Lake Wales and George and June Smith from Newark arrived. We gabbed for a while and then went to a restaurant for lunch called Catches. We had a very enjoyable and delightful lunch. I also received calls from my sons Dave and Reg. They had started some sort of campaign for me to receive 80 birthday cards on my birthday. At last count, I have received 50. Some from people I don't even know. Of course I also received some greetings via the internet. All in all I had a very great and enjoyable day. The weather down here has been rather cool and we have been getting some rain, but not like the cold and snow up north. Today though it is sunny and going up into the 70s again. Of course it is the first day of Spring today. Hurrah.

Michael wanted to be supportive and bring along some friends from here to see his friends from there.
