Infant/child CPR course

With a baby or young child in your family, you know there is nothing more important than safety. Whether you're a parent or a child caregiver, there are steps you can take to keep babies and children safe.

An emergency with an infant or child is more likely to involve a breathing problem. The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering an Infant and Child CPR course on Saturday, May 7 from 9 to 3 at the American Red Cross office at 165 East Union Street in Newark.

This course teaches participants to:

  • Identify how to reduce the risk of injury to infants and children.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of a breathing or cardiac emergency.
  • Learn how to care for an infant or child who has stopped breathing.
  • Learn how to care for an infant or child who is choking.
  • Identify how to use your community's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system effectively. Class size is limited.

Registration and pre-payment are required.

The cost of the course is $30, which includes a textbook. Blue Choice offers discounts to their members. Please call the Red Cross at 331.3783 for more information or to register.
