Elenbe Awards May 26 At Newark

The Elenbe Awards, given at the Wayne County Performing Arts Awards Celebration, will be presented May 26 to students and directors involved in musical and dramatic productions in 10 high schools.

Judges in the contest, sponsored by the Lyons National Bank, are members of the Wayne County Council For the Arts who attend every performance.

Awards will be announced by WOKR-13 TV Anchor Don Alhart, who has previously served as master of ceremonies at the event. Lyons National Bank President Robert Schick and David Schwind, Newark music supervisor/music teacher, will present the awards beginning at 8 p.m.

The event takes place at Newark High School. At 6:30 p.m., before the awards presentation, three-to-four minute vignettes from the various school musical and dramatic productions will be performed in the auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
