Firemen's Convention in Newark

On Friday, June 3, the 110th Annual Convention of the Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen's Association will take place at the Quality Inn in Newark. This week, there will be a Firemen's Carnival at the Firemen's Field off Westshore Blvd.

On Friday, night Northern Central will present their Firefighter of the Year Award, and their civilian awards. On Saturday, a Waterball Contest will be at the Firemen's Field at 1 p.m. The Memorial Service will take place, as will the election of officers. This year's officers are President Franklin Clark of Williamson, First Vice President Martin Thomas of Memphis (Onondaga County), Second Vice President Raymond Emma of Irondequoit (Monroe County), Secretary Richard Laitenberger Webster (Monroe County), Financial Secretary Edward Sexton Jr. of Penfield (Monroe County), Treasurer Ted Summers Jr. of Pittsford and Jr.Past President Charles Leach of Penn Yan (Yates County).

The Convention will conclude with a Firemen's Parade at the South end of town, down South Main St., past the Quality Inn out Westshore Blvd. to the Firemen's Field. Public is invited to the parade and all events at the Firemen's field.
