Some upsets in local elections

Several Town supervisors were unseated in yesterday's races, but some of the incumbents held steady. In Sodus and Savannah, the race is still close, and absentee ballots may make a difference. Incumbent Sodus Supervisor Donna Chittenden is down by fewer than 80 votes in her race. Unofficial results are Chittenden at 909 and challenger Steve Leroy at 980. In Savannah, incumbent Don Colvin had to run as an Independent candidate when he lost his town's GOP nod at caucus. Unofficially, he leads by only 10 votes. Colvin is at 237, and challenger Ed Williams has 227. A third candidate, Michael Kolczynski garnered 137 votes.

Incumbent Huron Supervisor Chuck Frederick lost his bid for re-election to his predecessor, John Young. Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, Marv Decker lost his Wolcott election to former County Administrator Kim Park. Incumbent Frank Guelli was also defeated. The Walworth Supervisor was upset by Robert Plant.

In the Town of Lyons, Supervisor Jim Fabino and both incumbent Councilmen, Earl Buchannan and Larry Hartwell held their seats. The Village's mayoral race went to former Village Clerk, Corrine Kleisle. Joanne Greco, Tom Sawtelle and Harry Aunkst were elected as Village Trustees. Greco is an incumbent. Sawtelle, a former Lyons Code Enforcement Officer, and Aunkst, who is employed by the County Sheriff's Dept., are both newcomers.
