Help Elks gather toys Members from Elks Lodges from throughout New York State have undertaken a project to gather toys for recent hurricane victims in our southern states. Recent hurricanes have caused extensive damage in a number of states including Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Because of the extensive damage it is feared that many children may not be able to enjoy a happy Christmas holiday season. Elks from throughout New York State have risen to the challenge of gathering new toys for distribution throughout those affected areas. The Elks have enlisted the support of the New York Army National Guard to airlift the presents to the southern states in mid December. Area citizens wishing to assist with this undertaking are encouraged to deliver NEW Christmas presents to area Elks Lodges and it is requested that the presents NOT be wrapped and that they be in the original packaging from the store where purchased. Crews of volunteers are ready to sort the presents for appropriate age categories and whether they are for boys or girls. Area State Vice President Thomas P. Gowan, Jr. of Lyons Elks Lodge # 869 is asking ALL area citizens to consider purchasing just one new present/toy and delivering it to their local Elks Lodge to help in this undertaking of charitable giving during this difficult time. In Lyons, the presents can be delivered- directly to the Elks Lodge at 32 Church Street. Also, an alternate site during the work week is the law office of local attorney Richard Wunder. For additional information, SVP Tom can be reached by telephone (315-573- 0298). A Fraternal Organization 2
