Missing Sodus

What a beautiful weekend. We came out for the Winter Shopping Fling on Saturday. We tried to get into the Christmas spirit by listening to the American Idols Christmas CD, yet with the windows open and the sun shining it was a little odd I will admit. I will not complain of course, it was a wonderful day! So much fun to see the big yellow leaves in front of the houses and remember how we enjoyed going for walks when the kids were little and kicking through the ones on the sidewalks.

We started the Winter Shopping Fling off at My Sister's Side Door. We had to say hello to some new friends. The shop smelled so nice and it looked so Victorian. There was a tree decorated in the big front window and the shop was already for the season. They have a candle of the month and from what I have been told, you can get a small candle for the burner for free.

The Fling begins with a sheet that has listed all of the shops and stores that will be participating in the event. This time there were 20 of them . Each time you go into a place, you get a stamp and, when you have gone to the last store, before 5 p.m. on the last day, you then turn in your sheet and it gets put into a drawing. When you have collected all 20 stamps you are eligible to win a $165 gift basket, 2nd prize collects 16 stamps and can win a gift basket worth $125. 3rd place with 12 stamps makes you eligible for an $85 basket and if you collect less then 12 stamps you are eligible to win a $25 gift basket.

Each store had a variety of refreshments and a special surprise from My Sister's Side Door. We got a cute snowflake to hang up and, at the Three Bears Olde Country Store on Geneva Road, we had a choice of pencil drawing pics. Mine is framed and hanging up as you read. We went to a few places and had a great time, but we had brought Oscar, who attracts a lot of attention. I didn't think everyone would be so open to having him come in.

There is Friends and Family Craft Show and Sale on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday November 13 from 10-4 both days. The Sale will be on 7556 Sodus Center Road and there will be signs to the back gate, where the sale is being held, in the shop behind the house. The gate will be open at l0....You, your friends and family are invited to come see the many one-of-a-kind items that they have created for you. Along with goodies for your home and great gift ideas, they will be offering homemade fudge and muffins. Coming from Rte 88 you can access Sodus Center Rd. and just follow until you pass Barclay Rd. They are on the right hand side. If you are coming from South Geneva Rd., turn onto Sodus Center Rd. and follow the curves around the pond and over the tracks and they will be on the left hand side.

Jake Spencer is in Guam now and here's a little note from him :

Hey everyone, I have arrived. It was an ok flight, it is still hot and muggy here just like the last time. Will write more again when I have more time.
