Toastmasters Club will meet at noon

VerBOCES, a new club forming in Newark, seeks to become a recognized local of Toastmasters International. The mission of the club is to develop communication and leadership skills in a supportive environment.

The club meets twice a month at noon so those who work in the Newark area could fit it into their schedule.

VerBOCES is open to any adult over the age of eighteen interested in gaining new skills at his or her own pace. The basic manuals are well written, and the fees are modest. VerBOCES meets every first and third Wednesday from noon to l in the BOCES complex on Drumlin Court.

Guests are welcome and a special open house is planned for Nov. 16 at noon.

Career-oriented persons would find help with technical presentations, interpersonal communications, persuasive speaking, leading discussions and other such skills. The toastmaster belief is that with guidance, mentoring and modeling anyone can do it better.

There are 26 clubs in the greater Rochester area. The new group is sponsored by the only local in Wayne County, Wayne Articulators Toastmasters, which meets two Monday evenings each month in Newark.

Toastmasters International requires 20 members before a new club can be chartered. VerBOCES would like to charter by the end of the year and is conducting a membership drive.
