Chase-Pitkin liquidation starts November 27
By John Zornow

Newark's Chase-Pitkin Home and Garden Center, as well as nine stores in the Rochester area, will begin a liquidation sale Sunday, November 27.

Earlier reports of Chase Pitkin's closing had indicated that some stores would take up to a year to phase out. A company spokesman said liquidation sales usually take 12 to 16 weeks to complete.

Some employees will find positions with the parent organization, Wegmans. Wegmans said that it cannot compete with home centers such as Home Depot and Lowe's.
