Garden Club meets Friday to decorate library The Newark Garden Club is meeting Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Newark Public Library. As a community service, they decorate the library for the Christmas season. Gardener decorators brought their lunches, and coffee, tea and dessert will be provided by hostesses Lorraine Healy and Rita McHale. After lunch President Rita McHale will hold a business meeting. Other civic projects during the year are care of rose beds, planting and care of geraniums in Central Park and the bed in front of the Municipal Building. The club does annual planting at the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society building on High Street. In 2002 they started and care for a 'Lilac Memorial Garden' on the SE bank of the Erie Canal to honor deceased Garden Club members. They have been doing a 'Garden Therapy' program for many years at the Wayne County Nursing Home and support the Newark High School's 'Operation Graduation.' A new project this fall is aiding the Food Closet by bringing a food staple to each meeting. Copyright
