'Memorable Murders' is lecture topic

Author/lecturer Andrea Evangelist will tell tales of memorable Lyons murders at a Lyons Civic Club sponsored lecture on October 17, at 1 p.m. at the Lyons Community Center (9 Manhattan St. Ext.).

Included in the list of murderers are Earl Martin, a West Water Street 'man's man' who became momentarily deranged after Martha Lytle Wilson rejected his invitation to the movies (1934);

Solomon Easterly, a south Lyons man whose wife and annoying mother-in-law became targets of his rage - and ax (1880);

and Mary Frances Hovey, a young girl whose long-lasting depression led her to finally take the lives of her beloved father and then herself (1880).

Evangelist, the author of two books on Wayne County History, Remembering Wayne and A Gathering of Memories, is now writing a book on the history of Lyons.

To pre-register for this free event or to obtain a complete list of coming lecture topics, call Sharon at 946.3367, Andi at 946.9340.
