Historic canal vessel docks in Lyons

The historic Day Peckinpaugh is shown here making its way into the Newark Erie Canal lock yesterday at about noon, on its way to Lyons. The former cargo vessel is headed to Saratoga County to be restored and converted to a floating museum.

Built in 1921, the vessel is 259 feet long and 36 feet wide.

The motorship will be docked in Lyons until Monday.
