Be a runner in the Marion Mile The Marion Mile is back! After a one-year hiatus, this popular road race will return to Marion Heritage Festival. At 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, runners of all ages and skills will gather across from the Marion Post Office for the start of another exciting race on the familiar downtown course. This race is designed for the involvement of the whole family. It doesn't matter if you want to run, walk, or jog. Categories include juniors (ages 11 and under), teenage boys and girls (Ages 12-18), Adult Men and Women (ages 19-39), and, of course, the infamous Masters categories for men and women over age 39. A fee of $3 per individual will be charged, with a maximum of $8 for a family of three or more. Entrants are also encouraged to bring a canned or boxed food item with them on the day of the race. All money and food will be donated to the Marion Food Pantry. This is the first time that entrance fees have been raised since the race began back in 1996. Over $850 dollars and many boxes of canned goods have been raised for the food pantry since the race began nine years ago. Please join the race and help us continue to support this worthwhile cause. All runners will receive T-shirts for participating in the race, thanks to sponsor donations. Art teacher Julie Zeller and her students have designed this year's Marion Mile Logo. In addition to the T-shirts, the overall winner and the winners in each category will receive prizes that have been donated by local businesses. Entry forms will be available at the Marion Town Hall, the Marion Pharmacy, and the Marion Library. To learn more, call John Bovet at 926.5217. Copyright
