Assessor candidate chosen in Lyons

The Lyons Republican Committee to Fill Vacancies has appointed Steven Boyer to run as Town Assessor, a two-year position, in the November 8 election.

The position, originally won by Dennis Watrous at the June GOP caucus, became vacant when Watrous, citing work-related reasons, made the decision to withdraw his name from the race.

Boyer, 36, is employed at Wayne County Building and Grounds. He is a member of Lyons Sons of American Legion, Lyons Elks, the Lyons Civic Club, Inc. and serves on the board of the Lyons Heritage Society. He is the father of three children and lives with his wife, Deena (Oaks), on Travell Road.

The Democratic candidate is Gayle Porter.
