Photo contest in Newark & Arcadia

The Newark-Arcadia Historical Society announces the first A Day in the Life of Newark & Arcadia photography contest.

All photographs must be taken on Saturday, September 17, within the township of Arcadia or the village of Newark.

All types of photos are acceptable - color or black and white; film or digital. Both amateurs and professionals are welcome to participate. Details will be announced. Photographers are asked to register by visiting the museum at 120 High St., Newark, or calling 315-331-6409.

The Historic Cemetery Walk will be held at Newark Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 14 (first tour at 6 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 15 (first tour at 2 p.m.) Tours of 20 will be conducted about every 15-20 minutes. A few actors are still needed. If you'd like to be considered, please contact the museum. Ten actors will portray interesting former Newark residents by the actual gravesite.

The Newark-Arcadia Historical Museum is open Saturdays, 1-3 p.m. (year round). Admission is free. The museum is located across the street from the library.
