Another week gone. The kids have finally all adjusted to school and schedules. (As parents, we are always adjusting.) It was mentioned the other day that for a school project, we had to find a slug and keep it in a container with very small holes, then, overnight, keep it in the refrigerator. Through the years, we have collected many things for school, including looking through the weeds for a specific knotty weed thing which contains a worm. Slugs are generally the gardener's enemy and I don't go out looking for them - I just see the damage they have done. (I guess it'll be one of those days that I drive to school, because I just don't see a 14-year-old girl who has a major thing about bugs, carrying a container with a slug to school with her in her backpack....That is, if I ever am able to find a slug to begin with.) A story of a loving heart: What does one do when you have an abused person who needs to place their dogs immediately? If you're Cheri Roloson, you nicely tell the woman that you do not take dogs. And then you explain that you are a farm animal rescue. And then you try to put your foot down and tell her that you are not licensed to have dogs. And as her story grows more heart wrenching, you end up with her dogs and promise to find them the very best home. That is the abbreviated version of Cam & Garr's story. These two handsome brothers are about a year and a half old, and recently neutered. They know basic obedience, are housedogs and extremely friendly. They are good with children, other dogs, and learning to accept cats. They DO NOT have to stay together. If you would like to meet these boys, please visit Cracker Box Palace during regular visiting hours, or call to arrange a special meeting. These boys have lost their human Mom at a young age, and are very deserving of a forever family! These dogs are very friendly. I saw them when I went to visit Alasa Farms they other day. Sometimes the most unusual ideas are the most fun. Years ago, we went to the Misty Meadows Pig Farm in Romulus and it was so much fun. When the kids were little years ago, in the fall, we would go to Grampa's to sit in the big teepee and we also would go to the Apple Shed and watch them press the apples. There are a lot of fun fall things to do. Do you have one you'd like to share? Maybe you have a favorite pumpkin bread recipe please write to me at Have a good week. Copyright
