Alasa family camping this weekend

ALASA Academy will be hosting a family camping weekend on September 24 & 25 on the historic Alasa Farm in Alton.

The family-oriented camping event will host a number of events which include: a chuck wagon style dinner Saturday night, campfires, karaoke and singing, trail hiking, orienteering activities, a haunted woods walk, ghost stories, and a Sunday sunrise service in the farm barnyard. Individuals are invited to bring horses to enjoy trail riding and camping.

Tent, self-contained camper sites, and horse trailer parking will be available Saturday 9 a.m. until Sunday at 6 p.m.

All are welcome to come enjoy primitive/rustic camping, meet farm animals at Cracker Box Palace, pick apples, and initiate the fall season. Local attractions include: U-Pick apples, local wineries, antique shopping, the farm gift shop, and the beautiful Sodus Bay.

Sliding donation proceeds will benefit both ALASA Academy and Cracker Box Palace. ALASA Academy is a new alternative educational organization that provides summer workshops for children, an after-school program, and will open an all day academy in the fall of 2007. Their programming is based on providing safe, bully-free learning with hands on experiences in the outdoors and with farm animals.

Alasa Farm is located on Shaker Road in Alton, NY (North of Rt. 104 off of Rt. 14 N.)
