Earth Day clean-up along the Canal

As part of the NY Canal Corporation's 'Canal Clean Sweep' initiative, a crew of volunteers will work Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day) from 9 to 4 along the north Erie Canal bank trail, near Lock 27 in Lyons.

The Finger Lakes Solid Waste Authority is providing a dumpster for the old furniture, appliances and other trash collected.

People interested in pitching in to help improve the trail's appearance are invited to bring gloves, good shoes and brush-clearing tools.

Parking is available near the former Hammett's building.
