Newark planning Rose Parade The Newark Volunteer Fire Department and the Village of Newark would like to extend an invitation to your organization to participate in a Rose Parade on Saturday July 22, 2006. This promises to be the largest event in Newark since the last Rose Parade held in 1973. We have invited participants to build floats from local businesses, Military Entities, Police, EMS and Fire Services, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Public Service Clubs, School Bands, and many other organizations. We are offering large prize money to encourage participation from your organization. Your attendance will help make this event a huge success for 2006, and give your organization an opportunity to win big and instill Pride in your community. The Committee will also be selecting a Rose Queen from the Newark school participants. Immediately following the parade, will be a Fire Department sponsored duck race fund raiser. The event will take place between the North Main Street Bridge and the East Avenue Veteran's Memorial Bridge. Citizens can purchase a duck to enter in the race and win large cash prizes. Following the race, a Block Party will be held in the T. Spencer Knight Park along the Erie Canal. A band will play through the evening. Food and Beverages will be available on site making this event a fun-filled evening for an entire family. Bands who march in the parade are encouraged to play afterward in the park until the start of the SYNERGY Band at 7. Parade Lineup is at 12:45 with the parade to start at 2 sharp. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to your participation on July 22. Registration forms available on line at: www.newarkfire.org
