Happenings Ernest and Lena Boss enjoyed the company of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren last Sunday in celebration of their 69th Wedding Anniversary. They all met at CrossPark in Newark for Sunday brunch. This was a combined luncheon as Ernest and Lena travel to Canada to their cottage for the summer session. My three sisters and I just returned from a nine-day stay in Hollywood and Los Angeles. You know what they say - 'What happens in California, stays in California!' Women's Spring Retreat: 'Wait For the Whisper' on Saturday, April 29 from 9 to 3:30 at the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. Speaker will be Shirley Pieters Vogel, founder of Whispers. The 641-mile transportation network known as the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway is the longest toll road in the United States. What do folks do with old, retired bowling balls? 'Happy Birthday Wishes' to Nellie DeWispelaere on April 24. The Girl Scouts and their leaders and other members of the community did a wonderful job delivering 112 Hyacinths plants for Easter to Senior Citizens, shut-ins and to the hospitals and nursing homes of Marion residents. The plants are purchased with money donated to the Marion Community Christmas Program. Helen Dingman, Ann Dickson, Mary Ann Lane and Lynnette Mackey say 'thanks' to everyone who helped! April 27 - Marion Elementary School Author's Night at 7 o'clock. Editor's Note: Carolyn, I put old, retired bowling balls in my garden as ornaments.
