Triathlon this Sunday at the Point The Annual 2006 Sodus Point Triathlon will be held August 20 at 8:30 a.m. at Sodus Point Beach Park. The Triathlon takes place along Lake Ontario. Triathlon participants from all over the area take part in this wonderful event. You get to swim near the popular Sodus Point lighthouse, bike within the old countryside and golf courses and run within the large colonial homes neighborhood, including the historic old Lighthouse. The race is limited to 180 registered competitors. The race consists of a .45 mile swim, 13.1 bike course and ending with a 5K run. Registration and course information can be downloaded at www.yellowjacketracing.com Wetsuits are recommended for the Lake Ontario swim. The triathlon is a inspiring event to watch. The whole town comes out to support the athletes whether with lawn chairs on their front lawns or volunteering. The Sodus Point Lighthouse is the featured landmark since it is visible multiple times throughout the event, from the swim, at the beginning of the bike course and twice on the run. Yellow Jacket Racing sponsors the race with the cooperation of the Town of Sodus, Village of Sodus Point, SP Police and Fire Dept., U.S Coast Guard, Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth and WC Sheriff.
