Marion graduate tours with Army band

Army Sgt. 1st Class Allen Bishop is a member of the U.S. Army Field Band, the official Army's touring musical organization, headquartered at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland.

Bishop has been touring the U.S. on its summer concert performances.

The musicians with their instruments and songs perform a blend of popular American music, including rock 'n' roll, country, jazz and patriotic.

Bishop, a vocalist with 11 years of military service, is the son of David Bishop of Fairport and Linda Brugge of Marion. He graduated from Marion High School in 1990 and received a Bachelor's degree in 1994 from Ithaca College.

This tour included performances in Ohio, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New York. Their mission on behalf of the Army is to say thanks to the American people for their support.
